Student Resources
Duke Immerse offers more than a semester-based classroom experience; it offers an integrated curriculum of four required courses and embedded travel. These programs often challenge students and instructors to become more aware of, critically engage with, and question the world in which they live. Duke Immerse invites cohorts to learn together, integrating their social, personal, and intellectual points of view. The intensity of Duke Immerse offers rewards and challenges; here are a few resources to support a positive experience.
Travel Safety & Emergency Resources
- Travel Registry is required for all Duke Immerse students, staff, and faculty prior to travel.
- Dial 9-1-1 for an emergency within the United States.
- International SOS (ISOS) offers all Duke students, staff and faculty travel, medical and security advice, and services when studying and working outside of the United States.
- Students, staff, and faculty can download and print their ISOS cards here.
- Duke Police operates a 24/7 emergency dispatch center and is the central Duke point of contact for all Duke Immerse students, staff, and faculty while off-campus (domestically and internationally).

Health & Access Resources
- DukeReach is a central resource point for students, faculty, staff, parents, and others to help students in need.

- Student Disability Access Office (SDAO) works to provide and coordinate accommodations, support services, and programs that enable students with disabilities to have equal access to all Duke programs and activities.
- Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides short-term care for individuals and groups and ongoing workshops. CAPS can connect students to a wide network of community resources. To schedule an appointment, call 919-660-1000.
Academic Resources
- Academic Advising Center offers support to students across all years and disciplines, with a focus on advising pre-major undergraduates.
- Directors of Academic Engagement are specialized advisors who help students clarify academic goals and connect students to opportunities for academic exploration within and beyond the typical classroom walls. They offer guidance in three areas of expertise: Arts & Humanities, Global & Civic Engagement, and Natural & Quantitative Sciences.
- Peer Success Leaders are Duke juniors and seniors who offer one-on-one consultation.
- Academic Resource Center offers student programs and services that promote academic achievement.

- LD/ADHD program promotes undergraduate academic success.
- Office of Civic Engagement works across campus to encourage, coordinate and amplify the ways that students, faculty, and staff collaborate and respond to pressing social challenges.
- Duke Service-Learning supports faculty in developing and implementing service-learning courses which connect academic curriculum to communities. Support includes individual consultations, support in facilitating community partnerships, curricular guidance, financial support, and student service-learning assistants.
