Emergency Situations
In case of emergency when traveling or off-campus, including COVID-19 concerns, students should notify the following:
- Local authorities (if appropriate)
- On-site Duke Immerse faculty*
- Their families
*If the on-site Duke Immerse faculty is unavailable, contact the Duke Police at 919-684-2444, and ask to speak with the Experiential Education Director on call.
The on-site Immerse faculty /Duke Police will initiate Duke emergency protocols by notifying Duke Immerse about the emergency.
Other General Emergency Information
When outside of the United States, the U.S. Government may be able to assist U.S. citizens having trouble overseas. Information about these services can be found on the U.S. State Department’s website at

If family members or guardians need to contact Duke Immerse, they should call 919-668-7305 during business hours (Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time). After hours and on weekends, they should contact the Duke Police at 919-684-2444 as ask to speak with the Experiential Education director on call.
